The Taner Akyol Trio was formed during a studio recording session in 2003. The unusual colors arising from the combination of baglama, piano, and percussion in improvisations led the three musicians to explore an experimental space between Orientalist passion and the intellectual search for timbre: a space of timbres that are born together, disappear together, reunite in new colors, overlap in complex rhythms, and cross borders one by one.

The Taner Akyol Trio, which records with ENJA Records and performs in many countries, presents works by Taner Akyol, rooted in the Anatolian folk music tradition and aimed at fostering interaction between Eastern and Western musical traditions.
